DIGITAL LITERACY & FINANCIAL INCLUSION
Digital literacy is essential in today’s technology-driven world, enabling individuals to access information, communicate effectively, and use digital tools for everyday tasks. It empowers people to participate in the digital economy, enhances access to services, and is especially important for bridging social and economic gaps.
Recognizing its importance, the Ubantu Foundation is actively promoting digital literacy through dedicated training programs across Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Goa. These initiatives help the individuals particularly from marginalized communities in becoming familiar with smartphones, digital platforms, and basic internet use. Participants are taught how to navigate digital tools safely and effectively, ensuring they can benefit from online services, education, and economic opportunities.
In June, 2025, Ubantu Foundation collaborated with a social organisation named Skills Root to provide online training under the Passport to Earning (P2E) program of UNICEF to the youth and women between the age of 18 to 30 years. P2E is a digital learning platform that provides free, job-relevant skills training to young people, particularly girls, to prepare them for the future of work. It focuses on equipping them with 21st-century skills like financial literacy, digital skills, and employability skills, enabling them to access further education, employment, or entrepreneurship opportunities. Over 150 trainees from the selected districts of Delhi, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan have completed the course and received certificates from UNICEF till July, 2025.
Cyber Security
As digital access grows, so do the risks associated with it. Many people fall victim to scam calls, fraudulent links, and online hackers, often due to a lack of awareness about safe digital practices. These cyber threats can lead to financial loss, identity theft, and misuse of personal information, making cybersecurity awareness more essential than ever. To address this, the Ubantu Foundation is conducting cybersecurity awareness sessions aimed at educating individuals especially first-time digital users on how to recognize and avoid common online threats. These sessions cover practical tips on safe internet use, protecting personal data, and identifying suspicious activities. Through this effort, the Foundation is helping communities build digital resilience and use technology more safely and responsibly.
Access to Social Welfare Schemes
Access to social welfare schemes is crucial for ensuring that vulnerable and marginalized communities benefit from government schemes. The Ubantu Foundation is working to bridge this gap in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and other states by raising awareness and guiding individuals especially women and low-income families on how to access and benefit from various government welfare schemes. Through community outreach, awareness drives, and one-on-one assistance, the Foundation helps people understand their entitlements, complete necessary documentation, and navigate application processes.
